A Name: ____ Age: ____ (in the last 3 years), Education: ____ Position held: ____ Date last employed: ____ Occupation: ____ Contact telephone number: ____ SECTION B<|endoftext|>The White House on Monday evening said Vice President Joe Biden has decided to run for the presidency, making him the first sitting vice president, or former vice president, to seek the Oval Office. "Vice President Joe Biden has made the decision to run for president tomorrow. He intends to speak tomorrow evening," White House press secretary Jay Carney, in response to a question at the briefing Monday night. Biden told a closed-door meeting of his advisors late Sunday that after a careful consideration of the race, he felt as though "that's exactly where I think I have to be right now," according to a member of the meeting. It will be a tough race for Biden to overcome Clinton's advantage among Democratic voters, in the eyes of many Democrats, particularly given the current state of the presidential race. Biden has a large national profile and is familiar enough to many in the party to provide a boost to any potential candidate, although there are those who consider his popularity to be diminishing. His decision comes as no surprise to some campaign finance experts who pointed to his record as Delaware's attorney general, which has been lauded for its effectiveness in protecting citizens' rights through litigation. The campaign trail, however, is different. He is already well-known, well-liked and well-liked by a wide swath of voters. The vice president has said he's not sure he can defeat President Barack Obama, whom he served with before becoming vice president. And when he ran for the presidency in 1988, and again in 2008, he was often seen by some critics of the Democratic Party as an opportunist who would leave his party to become president of the United States. Biden was the third candidate to challenge the incumbent president in 2008, and the first in a four-way primary. While he won by just under a percentage point, he was seen by many as a more plausible candidate this time around because the economy is far better than it was in 2008 and Biden campaigned hard for Obama and the Democrats. In his most recent debate against Democratic Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, Biden was far more aggressive than Ryan. Ryan was more reserved, often refusing to mention Obama by name and avoiding talking about the economy.
